Mont Blanc

Dear Homer,
We had one last BIG adventure while Lisa has been visiting us. Wish you could have been there but, no dogs allowed on the SCARY SCARY SCARY gondola rides (it took two to get to L'Aguille d'Midi, we skipped the 3rd one that crosses over to the Italian side of the mountain.) By the way, we forgot to bring our crampons and ice picks so, we had to skip the summit portion... this time!

Prego!

Dear Homer,
Last week, we ventured back to Italy one more time. We drove about 3 1/2 hours from Lausanne, to a little place on Lago Maggiore, called Stresa. It was the first time that the Husniks stayed at something called a "resort"... good thing since the days were hot and the room was air-conditioned. If you ever get a chance to visit the lakes region in northern Italy, I recommend you bring a few things with you; a good appetite, a thirst for wine, a copy of "A Farewell to Arms," and a soft pillow!
lots of love... we'll see you soon.

Signs of Switzerland

Dear Homer,
The Swiss are fond of posting pictorial signs... I guess to tell the population what to do or NOT to do.  Due to the multinational and multilinguistic nature of the country, using pictures to communicate makes sense.  Here are some of our favorites!

Dear Homer,
We haven't written lately... we've been REAL BUSY.   Take a look:

Our favorite neighbors,
Mr. & Mrs. Marshmallowrokenbok, came to stay for 10 days.

Look at this cool climber... it is in Parc de Milan... very close to my house!

Homer... look... SQUIRREL!

This is my friend, Alex. We are doing "jumping music" in this picture.  The parks here in Lausanne are really fun, and there are so many of them!
Ouchy has a great big fountain, great for jumping in, running across, and cooling off on a hot day.
Wish you were here...
Love,
Henry

home to Homer countdown

Dearest Homer,
I know we haven't been very good about writing lately.  It seems that summer is a good time for visiting Switzerland and Europe and well... we've had a few visitors.  (pictures to follow, very soon, I promise)  However, we have started our official HomeToHomer countdown.

27 DAYS!!!!!!!

While we are very anxious to see you soon, having visitors is allowing us to "live in the moment" and appreciate all of Mother Nature's boundless beauty while we are still in Switzerland.

lots of love,
mama

Le Tour de France 2009

Dear Homer,
Yes we did go... it was only 20 minutes away by train, in Yverdon les Bains.  When we arrived, we waited (watched the caravan) for 40 minutes and the riders came by for all of about 40 seconds... see for yourself how fast they are!

The goings-on of one boy

Dear Homer,
I know you've been wondering, "What does H. do all day?"   So here are some of the goings-on in his little boy world.

March-June, H. attended a small bilingual school.  It's a brand new school so there were only 12 students!  He loved every minute of it... especially "sports" day and swimming.

All of this week, he has been busy at soccer camp.

The last week at his school was devoted to sailing... we were having a hot spell so, each day ended with a swim in the lake.

H. has also been working on his pizza eating and foosball skills, every chance he gets!
Occasionally he forgets his humble roots and gets a little sassy...
can you hear him saying "haha Homer, I'm swimming in Lake Geneva and you're not!"
